As we continue to deliver a wide range of targeted solutions, ips and other technologies, we support innovators and ensure we are at the forefront of the market, leading trends and addressing challenges. That's why we conducted a survey of iot practitioners across the global ecosystem, interviewing developers, engineers, start-ups and prominent chip partners, software providers, Oems and other partners to understand their current challenges.
On the positive side of the survey, respondents believe that the consumer market, cloud/data centers and smart cities are leading the development of iot, with 5G technology, cloud-native development and machine learning being important factors driving the implementation of solutions. Respondents said they are excited about what the Internet of Things (IoT) is making possible by collecting vast amounts of new data, analyzing it effectively, and using the results to improve business performance and customer experience.
But they also see some problems. Two factors stand in the way of achieving a transformative vision: long and complex development cycles, and the portability of migrating software to new hardware. For respondents, the use of tools can improve development efficiency, and developers can run and test software development ideas in a virtual hardware environment in advance without waiting for the hardware to be ready. In addition, respondents also recognize the value that ecosystems bring to simplify software migration for efficient, large-scale development.
Software compatibility issues also deserve attention. Developers agree that iot product development on a unified architecture can achieve high efficiency and scalability of software development. In addition, key considerations such as software reuse, cost reduction, and increased learning efficiency for development teams can also be addressed by using a unified architecture.
In addition to the above issues, the survey results also show that the biggest challenge for iot businesses is security throughout the product development and life cycle. Respondents said that improving security throughout the process from design to deployment to service is critical, and that their partners and customers are asking for enhanced security.
Other challenges include a slowdown in the globalization of supply chains, the introduction of new laws and regulations, lack of timely access to the latest hardware and iot technologies, and lack of certification and standardization initiatives to enhance security.
There is no doubt that the iot industry is at a turning point. The challenges and opportunities facing the development of the Internet of Things also reflect the innovators' positive and optimistic attitude towards the development of the Internet of Things in the next few years. From engineers to software developers, from start-ups to established vendors, all vertical industries and their practitioners see tremendous opportunities in iot. The need and pain points for faster time-to-market through accelerated development, increased efficiency, and stronger support for business decision makers based on more data are reflected in the survey. We always believe that Internet of Things applications have great potential to change the world, and understand the opportunities and challenges in order to get twice the result with half the effort.
